This iteration of Scan is enacted as a durational performance, with the physical body of the artist forming part of the artwork. Sitting in the gallery space, eyes closed, the artist remains still with no social interaction. However, on approach gallery visitors can gain insight into the interior of her skull by using their smart phone to scan the QR code on her forehead. The brain scan is virtual, animated, and somewhat interactive, as it is transposed from the code on the artist's skin to being an animation that appears in the hand of the viewer. The record of this meeting between artist, viewer and digital anatomical interior departs with the viewer, as the link to the brain animation remains on their smart phone and can continue to play. Yet the artist will remain unaware about who has seen inside her head.
